A Summers Sunday Afternoon?

Well one would think not with all the wet and windy weather we have been having of late in the UK . Making me think its going to be another showery summer just like last year alhamduilah. I can't complain as we have had some nice spells of glorious sunshine already........well some news on what i have been doing? I opted not to go on hols this summer in favour of a new fridge /freezer amongst other things much needed but now i feel like i need a holiday. Today we (me and the Kids) felt like some comfort foods in the form of sweet treats first so i made Basbousa there is something satisfying about sweetness esp around the coffee table with warm mugs of tea and nice chatter.

I also baked a bread topped with feta , tomatoes and black olives.

crocheted Brooch

Photobucket

I made this last night......after a trip to Covent Garden Market, i must add when ever i seem to go there i return inspired! I offered it to DD as i was making it but she said, ''No mum its ok, you alright there!'' Meaning it was old fashined but latter when i used her jacket to model it she changed her tune and has now taken possession of it! I was going to offer it on here as a give away , maybe i will make another. i saw a similar item at the camden Town Market months back for sale for £5. I was thinking to make more to sell at a bazzar to raise money for orphans in Gambia, selling them at £1.50 do you think i should ask for more, how much would you pay for it?

Nutty Cakes

I picked up this cake tray while on the hunt for a cup cake tray at the local £1 store although it cost me £3 rather than £1. I made a randon mix of cake mix
I used
i creamed the butter with the sugar and Vanilla essence until creamy. I added a little soured cream, 8oz of flour, i used self raising. I added a handful of mixed chopped nuts.
These lttle tasy treats appeared i was not happy with the overall look considering the tin but the taste compensated for it!

Asparagus Lasagna

I had some asparagus sitting in the fridge for some days now and i wanted to cook it but not one who has had it in her diet often in fact if ever but recently i tried some at home with some vegi friends and liked the taste.
I wanted to bake it but not sure on what dish to try i opted to make a lasagna kind. Originally i wanted to wrap them in pancakes and cover with a Bechamel sauce and cheese but i was to lazy to make the pancakes and felt the lasagna sheets ready made would be easy hence my Asparagus Lasagna
here it is in pictures and very nice it was too mashaAllah!
I cut the asparagus lengh ways with a long knife , layered the lasagna in the usual way laying with mozzarella cheese topping with the bechemel sauce and grated chesse of your choice i used Cheddar.
