mashaAllah. so you made bread in algeria? i was under the impression(from my husband of course) that buying bread costs about the same as making it.

We went to tipaza one day and bought some khobz eddar from an old man on the side of the road. It was mashaAllah they best we had the whole trip. We ate it in the morning with philadelphia cream cheese. It was delicious.

I especially loved how good the fruits and vegetables taste. In the US you have to spend a lot of money on organic foods and it still doesn't taste that pure. Wallahi I had some of the most delicious apples there.

I think that the algerian people cook with too much oil, but that is my only complaint. Other than that the food tastes yummy.

I might give these snails a try this weekend.

Yes its true sometimes buying bread is cheeper in the 3rd wold than home baking , i hardly baked white bread at home but did tea time bread or should i say coffee breads such as khobz ad darr and matloo as there is nothing more tastier than home made bread or foods, also hygine is another issue i often worry about in Algeria and street sold stuff but we often buy 25da matloo from the lil kidz selling bread door to door, kisra is another bread i don't make but buy as mine does not come out too good, maybe more practice inshaAllah and that cost 35da as made with semolina.

true the fruit and veg are the best i have tasted in terms of natural sweetness along side fruit and veg from India as its very nice there too. Same in the UK fruit and veg tastes so bland and after a bout in Algeria this stuff is just no good anymore as i mentioned before subhan allah we have detoxed our senses and taste buds aswell as colons, so i am cooking more to find a natural taste , as i am in the UK and these last post have been from my kitchen in the UK alhamduillah, any chance i can see some of your atempts sisters ? on your blog?

opps forgot to mention yes i agree to much oil and butter ghee also tooooo much sugar in my opionon and sometimes boil the food to death too much otherwise Algerian food not bad but i must admit it was to bland for me but took me time to get used to it and enjoy it, i like some white sauce dishes now but in the begining i could not en#ven bring myself to taste them alhamduillah but when i cook Algerian dishes i have adapted them a ittle to suit my fiery pallet. sister you must come and join this forum and check out the cooking section there http://muslimahs4algeria.niceboard.com/index.htm?sid=173778ff3e93b0dec234dd191bc0ee9a

I sent my camera to my husband, and I will not get another one for at least 2 weeks. He fell in love with it and pouted like a baby until I sent it to him :) HE doesn't even like to take pictures, but he just had to have it. When I get the new camera I will be sure to add some pics of my work inshaAllah.
